Blog Management Documentation
The Blog system enables administrators to create, organise, and publish articles, announcements, or news updates for their club or organisation. Each blog post is categorised, scheduled, and optimised for search engines, and includes flexible content blocks for rich layouts. Blog posts are fully tenant-specific, allowing each organisation to manage its own editorial content independently.
Creating and Managing Blog Posts
To create or edit a blog post, navigate to the Posts section under the Blog / News menu in the dashboard. The post creation form uses a multi-step wizard that allows for structured content entry and full control over layout, images, SEO, and publishing settings.
The following steps are used when creating a blog post:
- Basic Information
Begin by assigning the post to a category. Categories are required and help organise posts on the frontend. Provide a title for the post. A URL slug is automatically generated from the title but can be manually updated. You may also enter an optional excerpt, which is a short summary displayed on blog overview pages or in listings. The excerpt is limited to 500 characters, with live character count feedback. - Flexible Content Blocks
The main content of the blog post is created using flexible blocks. These blocks support a wide range of content types including headings, text, images, callouts, videos, and more. Blocks can be added and rearranged to achieve a customised layout, making each blog post visually unique and engaging. - Images
Upload a header image for use at the top of the blog post. This is a required field and should be a high-quality visual relevant to the article. You can also provide a listing image, which is used in blog previews and grids throughout the site. These images are managed through the Curator media library. - SEO Settings
Each post includes SEO-specific fields such as the slug (automatically created from the title), SEO title, meta description, author name, and robots tag. These fields ensure that your content is properly indexed and displayed in search engine results. Customising these values is optional but highly recommended for visibility. - Publishing
Choose the status of the blog post—either "Draft", "Published", or "Archived". Draft posts are not visible to the public. Archived posts are retained in the system but hidden from the frontend. You can optionally specify a publish date and time, allowing you to schedule posts to go live at a specific moment.
Once a post is published, it becomes publicly visible on the tenant’s website according to its category and assigned layout. All posts are scoped to the currently active tenant.
Managing Blog Categories
Blog posts are grouped into categories, which help users discover related content and allow administrators to organise articles effectively. Categories are managed separately through the Categories section under Blog / News.
When creating a category, administrators are required to provide a name and can optionally include a description using the rich text editor. Descriptions may be displayed on category pages to introduce or summarise the type of content users will find.
Each category also supports:
- Category Image: An optional image used in grid or listing views.
- Banner Image: A larger image that may be used as a visual header on the category’s landing page.
- SEO Metadata: Including slug, SEO title, description, and indexing settings, all configurable from the SEO step in the wizard.
Slugs for categories are auto-generated from the name but can be manually adjusted. They must be unique within each tenant.
Publishing Workflow
The blog system supports a flexible publishing workflow. Articles can be created in advance, saved as drafts, or scheduled for future publication using the publish date field. Once a post is published, it will be automatically displayed on the frontend unless its scheduled publish date is in the future.
Posts can be edited at any time, and changes to published articles will reflect immediately unless they are returned to draft or archived status.
SEO and Discoverability
Each blog post and category includes dedicated SEO fields to enhance its discoverability via search engines. Admins are encouraged to complete the SEO title and description fields with accurate, keyword-relevant summaries. Proper use of slugs and meta information will result in improved visibility in search results and a more professional appearance when links are shared.
Summary
The Blog module is a powerful content publishing system that allows each tenant to publish structured, media-rich articles organised by category. Through the use of flexible content blocks, custom imagery, and SEO tools, administrators can produce high-quality blog content that enhances engagement, informs members, and improves search engine performance.
Blog categories ensure content is logically grouped, and the system supports draft management, scheduling, and archiving to give full control over the publication lifecycle.
