What fish is this?

Upload a clear photo and we’ll suggest the most likely species, plus junior-friendly guidance and record info where available.

Fish ID

Tip: include the full fish, good light, minimal blur and a simple background.

What tackle is this?

Upload a photo of your rod, pole or rig and we’ll explain what’s in the picture in plain English.

Tackle ID

Tip: include the float/feeder, hooklength and line where possible. Avoid extreme close-ups.

Is this a parasite or disease?

Health check

Tip: take 2 photos if you can — one close-up of the issue and one full fish for context. Good light helps.

Upload a photo to get a welfare-first checklist, likely issues and next steps.

Important note

The AI Fishing Assistant is a learning tool — not a replacement for experienced anglers or official records. Always double-check unusual species, weights and local rules with your club, fishery or governing body.

What is the Clubnest AI Fishing Assistant?

The Clubnest AI Fishing Assistant is a free tool for UK anglers, junior clubs and parents. It uses modern AI models to help you with two common questions on the bank: “what fish is this?” and “what tackle am I looking at?”. Simply take a clear photo on your phone, upload it here, and we’ll analyse the image.

For fish photos, the assistant suggests a likely species, gives a junior-friendly difficulty rating, and shows approximate UK and world record information where available. For tackle photos, it breaks a setup down into simple parts – rod, reel, line, float or feeder, hook length and more – so it’s easier to learn and explain to younger anglers.

Why we built this for junior angling

On junior days and coaching sessions, adults are often juggling nets, rigs, bait and fish safety while answering a constant stream of questions. The AI Fishing Assistant gives you a quick second opinion, so you can focus on helping children enjoy their time on the water.

What this tool is best for

  • Learning fish species and lookalikes
  • Explaining rigs to juniors and parents
  • Helping new volunteers support coaching sessions
  • Getting a quick “second opinion” on the bank
