Explore UK fish species by waterbody

The Clubnest Species Map helps anglers and clubs explore which fish species have been recorded across rivers, canals, streams, lakes and reservoirs. Move and zoom the map to load observations for the area you’re viewing, then use the filters to narrow results.

How to use the map

  • Pan/zoom to your area.
  • Search for a waterbody or species name.
  • Filter by water type to compare similar venues.
  • Use the legend to toggle fisheries, water types, and species layers.

What the counts mean

Marker counts represent the number of recorded observations available for that species/waterbody combination. “Latest” shows the most recent record date returned by the dataset.

FAQs

What does the Species Map show?

The map shows which fish species have been recorded in each UK waterbody within the current map view. Zoom and pan to load more areas, and use filters to narrow by species or water type.

Where does the data come from?

Species records are compiled from Clubnest’s imported datasets and linked to UK waterbodies where possible. Counts and “latest” dates are shown where available.

Why can’t I see a certain water or species?

Not all waters have public records available. Try zooming out, removing filters, or searching different names (some waters have multiple local names).

What do the coloured markers mean?

Each colour represents a different species layer. Use the legend to show/hide species layers and to toggle fisheries. You can also toggle waterbody types — streams are off by default.
