Guide Management Documentation
The Guides module allows administrators to create and manage informative articles or step-by-step tutorials that are published on the tenant website. These guides are structured with flexible content blocks and grouped into categories for improved organisation and navigation. Each guide supports SEO metadata, custom banners, publishing status, and scheduling.
This system is ideal for publishing how-to articles, educational content, venue overviews, club rules, policies, or any other structured content that benefits from categorisation and flexible formatting.
Creating and Managing Guides
To manage guides, navigate to the “Guide” section within the admin dashboard. You can view existing entries, create new guides, or edit and update current ones. When creating or editing a guide, you will be guided through a step-by-step wizard interface, allowing for a structured and consistent publishing experience.
Each guide consists of the following key steps:
- Basic Information
Start by assigning the guide to a category. Each guide must belong to one category, which helps with filtering and frontend display. Then, enter the guide’s title and a short excerpt. The excerpt is displayed on overview pages and search results to provide a quick summary of the guide’s content. - Flexible Content
The content of each guide is created using flexible content blocks, powered by Filament Fabricator. This allows for a rich and modular layout, including headings, images, callouts, embedded media, and more. Blocks can be added, reordered, and customised as needed. - Images
Each guide requires two types of images. The first is the main image, used in previews and cards. The second is the banner image, used as a header or visual introduction to the guide on the full page. Both images are selected using the Curator media library and can be uploaded or reused across multiple guides. - SEO Settings
A unique slug is required for each guide and is auto-generated from the title, although it can be manually edited. Additionally, administrators can provide SEO metadata, including title, description, author, and indexing instructions. This helps improve the guide’s visibility in search engines. - Publishing
You can choose the status of the guide as either “Draft”, “Published”, or “Archived”. Drafts are only visible in the admin panel. Published guides are live on the frontend. Archived guides are retained for reference but removed from public view. Optionally, a “Publish On” date and time can be set, allowing guides to be scheduled for future publication.
All guides are tenant-scoped, meaning only guides created by the current tenant are visible and editable within their dashboard.
Organising Guides into Categories
To maintain structure and improve discoverability, guides are organised into categories. Categories are managed separately and can be accessed via the “Categories” section under the “Guides” menu in the dashboard.
When creating or editing a category, administrators must provide a name, optional description, and associated images. The banner and category image can be used to visually enhance the category landing pages or grid displays on the frontend.
Categories also support SEO metadata and a custom slug, which helps with clean URLs and improves search engine indexing. The slug is auto-generated from the category name but can be customised if needed.
Categories serve as the primary method of grouping guides, making it easier for end users to browse related content on the public website.
Publishing Workflow
The system supports a flexible publishing workflow, including drafts, manual publication, and scheduled release. Once a guide is ready, set its status to “Published” or schedule a publication date. Only published guides will appear on the frontend of the website.
You can edit guides at any time. If major changes are needed, you may set the guide back to draft to temporarily hide it while updates are made.
SEO Considerations
Each guide and category includes fields for SEO title, meta description, author name, and indexing rules. This ensures every page is optimised for search engines and supports structured metadata. Slugs are required to maintain clean URLs and should be unique across each tenant.
It is recommended to write descriptive meta titles and summaries that reflect the content of the guide to improve search engine visibility and click-through rates.
Summary
The Guides system is a powerful content publishing tool that supports structured authoring, flexible layout blocks, SEO metadata, image management, and category-based organisation. It is well-suited for clubs and organisations that wish to maintain a knowledge base, publish educational articles, or share structured guidance with their members.
Administrators can manage both guides and categories through dedicated interfaces, ensuring content remains well-organised and easy to update. With built-in support for flexible content and SEO, this module provides a complete solution for content-driven areas of the site.
